areito

/aˈɾej.to/ · noun

a ceremony of celebration

A ceremonial festival of the Indigenous peoples of the Antilles, joining music, dance and craft to honor memory, ritual and belonging — the way a community kept its traditions alive.

The meaning of our name

We named ourselves after a celebration.

For the first peoples of the Americas, the areito was how tradition survived — a gathering where art, memory and identity were honored together. We carry the name because that is exactly what we do.

Every object we make is a celebration: of a technique passed down for centuries, of the territory it comes from, and of the hands that keep it alive. We don’t reproduce craft — we honor it, and translate it for today’s luxury.

“Craft, celebrated as art.”

Two sisters, two worlds, one mission. Mayra Gómez trained at Istituto Marangoni, Milan, and has spent a decade mapping Colombia’s master weavers, fiber by fiber. Stephany Gómez is the corporate strategist behind USD 1B+ in transactions and USD 500M+ raised.

Both built on our mother’s forty-year artisan legacy in Cali — the trust that lets us do what no factory can.
